Google has just announced that they are teaming up with the eyewear company Luxottica to create a newer, more stylish type of Google Glass. The gadget is a small screen attached to a frame that can be placed over the eye and can record video, access email, and retrieve information from the web. Unfortunately, Glass has so far been perceived as an overly expensive niche product, so Google is trying to give it more street cred by making it look less futuristic and more fashionable.
Luxottica makes glasses for brands such as Oakley and Ray-Ban. The company and has already experimented with marrying their fashionable glasses with technology. They formerly created Oakley sunglasses with headphones. However, the Glass presents another set of issues, especially problems with privacy and data confidentiality. It seems that the new glasses will hit the market in 2015. Looking forward to seeing what they come up with!
